Chewings fescue is a cool-season perennial turfgrass with bunch-type growth. It derives its name from Mr. George Chewing, who first cultivated it in New Zealand back in the late 1800’s. It is the densest of the fine fescues and is known to be winter hardy. Use Chewings in low maintenance and shade situations with other fine fescues, Kentucky bluegrass, and perennial ryegrass.
