Annual Ryegrass

Turf-type annual ryegrass is an exciting area of breeding development. Varieties in this class combine the best qualities of turf-type perennial ryegrass with the short duration of annual ryegrass. Uses are primarily as a starter crop when used in combination with other species, such as tall fescue and Kentucky bluegrass. The main interest, however, has been as a replacement for turf-type perennial ryegrass for use of winter overseeding of warm season perennial turf.
